The Hunter Douglas Shades of Happiness Contest
The Hunter Douglas Shades of Happiness Contest (the “Contest”) is a contest hosted by Hunter Douglas Contract, a division of Hunter Douglas Inc. (“Hunter Douglas”) where up to five (5) winners will be chosen from all Contest Submissions (defined below) submitted during Contest Period.
The Contest period begins on [June 1, 2014], at 12:01AM (EST) and ends on [August 31, 2014] at 11:59PM (EST) (the “Contest Period”).
Eligibility:
The contest is open only to individuals who are legal residents of the United States and who at the time of entry are: (a) 1 to 18 years of age, and (b) staying in a hospital affiliated with the Southern California chapter of Ronald McDonald House Charities, staying at a Southern California Ronald McDonald House, or participating in Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times in Idyllwild, Calif.
Contest Theme: “What makes you happy?”
Ronald McDonald House Charities focus on improving the health and well-being of children. With this in mind, Hunter Douglas Contract is encouraging children, through the contest, to think about and create original artwork that reiterates the organization’s mission to improve happiness of the children and their families around the world.
How to Enter:
To enter the contest, get permission from your parent or legal guardian and:
(a) complete and submit an entry form that includes a description of the artwork, your name, age, birthday, permanent address, name of parent or legal guardian and e-mail address and phone number for parent or legal guardian (all entry forms must be signed by the entrant’s parent or legal guardian); and (b) submit an original artwork demonstrating what “happiness” means to you.
Submission of (a) and (b) constitutes a (“Contest Submission”). All Contest Submissions are subject to the Contest Rules.
You may obtain a copy of the entry form at an affiliated Southern California Ronald McDonald House or Camp Ronald McDonald for Good Times.
How it Works:
Following conclusion of Contest Period, all Contest Submissions will be presented to a panel of judges for review. The judges will select at least one (1) and up to five (5) winners on or about [October 23, 2014]. All entries will be judged, based on the following criteria: (a) originality/creativity (50%); and (b) appropriateness to Contest theme (50%). Note that all artwork submitted may be used in accordance with the Contest Rules to promote the Contest and in connection with any Hunter Douglas marketing or promotional activities.
Winning Submissions
Parents/legal guardians of the winning entrant(s) will be notified via email, mail, or by phone on or before [November 1, 2014]. Notification will be sent to the contact email address, mailing address, or phone number listed on the entry form. In addition, the artwork of the winning entrant(s) along with the first name of the entrant, the first letter of entrant’s last name, and the age of entrant will be posted on www.shadesofhappiness.com (the “Contest Page”). The winner(s) selected by the panel of judges will receive a prize basket with: (a) an iPad mini and accessories, and (b) an assortment of toys and art supplies. Approximate retail value of the prize basket is $500.
Note that Hunter Douglas may, in its sole discretion, in accordance with the Contest Rules utilize the artwork of any or all of the winners on any materials or products that Hunter Douglas elects to create or produce without further consideration, notification, or permission.
Contest Rules
No purchase is necessary to enter or win this contest. A purchase will not increase or otherwise affect your chances of being selected as a winner. This is a skill-based contest and chance plays no part in the determination of winners. Odds of winning are dependent on the total number of Contest Submissions received by Hunter Douglas. All winners will be notified via email, mail, or by phone. Prizes are not transferrable, and cash may not be substituted for prizes. If a winner cannot be reached within ten (10) calendar days from the first notification attempt, or if Hunter Douglas’ notification is returned as undeliverable, the prize may be forfeited and, at Hunter Douglas’ sole discretion, an alternate winner may be selected.
Contest Submissions become the sole property of Hunter Douglas and none will be acknowledged. Limit of one Contest Submission per person during the Contest Period.
Contest Submissions will be screened by Hunter Douglas before posting to the Contest Page. Contest Submissions with inappropriate content (nudity, profanity, obscene materials, etc.) will not be accepted. Hunter Douglas reserves the right to reject Contest Submissions in its sole discretion for failure to comply with the Contest Rules.
By entering the Contest, each entrant (and their respective parent(s) and legal guardian(s)): (a) represents and warrant that he/she own all rights and interest in and to the artwork included as part of the Contest Submission, (b) hereby releases Hunter Douglas and its parent, subsidiary, and affiliated companies and each of their respective officers, employees, and designees (“Authorized Parties”) from any liability whatsoever for claims, costs, injuries, losses or damages of any kind arising, directly or indirectly, out of or in connection with this Contest or the acceptance or use of any prize, (c) grants a royalty-free, irrevocable, perpetual, non-exclusive license to the Authorized Parties to use, reproduce, distribute, display and create derivative works of entrant’s artwork submitted (along with entrant’s name, likeness and biographical information) in connection with the promotion of the Contest and for the creation or promotion of any Hunter Douglas products, materials or for any other lawful purpose, in any media now or hereafter known, and without further consideration, notification, or permission.
Void where prohibited or otherwise restricted by law. Taxes are the sole responsibility of
the winner.
These Contest Rules will be available on the Contest Page. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Hunter Douglas reserves the right to modify the contest rules, change, suspend and/or discontinue the contest at anytime.
